7,000 tourists from Austria enjoy five-week visit to Cyprus
Over 7,000 tourists from Austria concluded a visit to Cyprus earlier this week, according to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.
The tourists – members from the Pensionistenverband (Austrian Pensioners Federation) – stayed at Tsokkos Hotels & Resorts during their visit and were taken on compulsory excursions across the island by experienced guides.
Summertimes Travel, a destination management company, were appointed by Pensionistenverband to organise the trip and chose Ayia Napa and Protaras as the tourists’ base.
Hermes Airports and Austrian Airlines were also given special praise from the CTO for their joint efforts to organise the visit.

In addition to their compulsory excursions across Cyprus, the Austrian visitors also enjoyed some optional excursions and activities, which was experienced by the vast majority.
BEYOND ANY DOUBT
“Trips such as this, in addition to the many benefits they have for Cyprus, create tourist traffic in a relatively short period and generate good revenues from the services offered, and contribute to promoting the island to the Austrian market,” read a CTO statement.
During the tourists five-week visit, journalists from state TV, local publications and radio stations, accompanied them and reported back home on the island’s appeal as a tourist destination for Austrian travellers.

“The visit’s successful organisation demonstrates, beyond any doubt, Cyprus’ ability to host tourism outside the summer season, offering various activities aimed at different market segments other than the sun and the sea,” continued the CTO announcement.
“However, Cyprus’ ability to successfully organise such big events requires coordination and cooperation between the various relevant actors.”
During the 2018 spring season, a similar trip is again expected to be organised, concluded the CTO.
