Cyprus Tourism Organisation attracts more UK weddings

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation has announced that its presence at The National Wedding Show 2015 in London was a success.

Exhibiting under the ‘Marry Me Cyprus’ slogan, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation promoted the island’s wedding industry to UK tour operators who specialise on wedding tourism. Many of the island’s luxury hotels and resorts were also present while visitors enjoyed traditional treats and souvenirs after visiting the Cyprus booth.

The UK market remains the main player in the wedding tourism sector for Cyprus with 4,000 ceremonies from UK couples taking place annually. Pafos and Larnaka are the most popular destinations for UK weddings, followed by Agia Napa, Protaras and Paralimni according to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.

According to feedback received by the specialised wedding tour operators and from reservations and bookings thus far, the 2016-17 season is expected to see the largest increase in UK weddings on the island to date.

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation announced plans to further develop the island’s appeal as a luxury wedding destination, notably during the period from May through to October, and for the winter season, mostly November, March and April.

“To achieve these objectives we need to diversify and enrich the wedding product, such as through the introduction of new imaginative and innovative spaces for thematic wedding ceremonies, especially those associated with the goddess’ Venus and Aphrodite,” read an official Cyprus Tourism Organisation statement.
