Cyprus exhibitors highlight growing tourism product at UK’s WTM

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation presented its tourism product at the annual World Travel Market (WTM) at London’s ExCeL, highlighting its record tourist arrivals to the UK travel trade.

Held between November 6-8, over 50 co-exhibitors, entrepreneurs and tourist professionals from the island presented their products and services and made important contacts moving forward.

Cyprus Tourism Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis was again present at this year’s WTM, as was Chairman at the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, Angelos Loizou, and the CTO’s Deputy Director General, Marinos Menelaou.

A key message presented to WTM visitors by the Cyprus exhibitors were the record arrivals recorded this year.

From January to September 2017, global tourist arrivals to Cyprus reached 3,001,603, compared to 2,617,218 during the same period last year; a 14.7 per cent year-on-year increase.

UK arrivals during this period reached 1,039,783; an 8.9 per cent increase compared to the 954,673 UK arrivals the previous year.

“We’re delighted to see continued growth in tourism to Cyprus, both from the UK specifically and across all markets,” commented the CTO’s UK Director Orestis Rossides.

“Thanks to the continued growth throughout the year, 2017 remains on track to be another record-breaking year.

“With the warmest winters in Europe, Cyprus is a wonderful winter sun destination and we encourage travellers to consider our beautiful island for their upcoming holidays throughout the winter.”
